Charles Vess, the talented artist of books (Stardust) and comics (Rose w/Jeff Smith) has started a new blog at his site, greenmanpress.com, with lots of great work in progress images to checkout. I am so pleased that he is going to posting more since he is a favorite artist of mine. There are photos on the set for the movie version of Stardust from when he visited with Neil Gaiman, neat.

Illustrator Maurice Sendak is interviewed on NPR’s morning edition. He talkes about how his childhood shaped his books as well as his NEW pop up book “mommy!”

In Mr. Sendak’s books children are in peril all the time, but make it in the end. In the interview they speak about the idea that the world is not a perfect place and that it’s inperfections should not be glossed over.

On September 30, 2006 I will be leading the drop-in kid’s cartooning class at the Cartoon Art Museum. It will be from 1-3 and cost $5 per student. RSVP to be guarenteed a spot. Ages 8-14.

Stopmotionworks.com reports a new toy, the Marvel SuperHero Ani-maker. A stand alone animation stand to make stories with cutouts of characters like Spiderman and the Hulk. Reminds me of the “good old days” back when I shot animation with a tripod and super-8 camera.

I have my schedule for Silicon 2006 (October 6-8) on the appearance page. (Subject to Change as well)
I will be there on friday for the meet and greet as well as on two panels on Saturday. There will also be a comic book jam on Saturday from 1pm to 12am that all are welcome to contribute too,I will.

Gilbert Sheldons underground comic, the Faboulous Furry Freak Brothers comes to life by way of stopmotion combined with some CGI (produced by grass roots films). In the official clip on Youtube.com we don’t see the brothers move much, but their cat Fat Freddys Cat dose come to life quite excellently.
