#dailydrawings 2017 – February – Part 1

Daily Drawings Feb 2017 - part 1

Time for the first batch of my Daily Drawings for February 2017. You can see them when they are posted by checking out my Instagram account. << LINK

First off is the cover and inside front cover of my new sketchbook. The title is “Forgotten Heroes, from Random Names” and there is a list of some names to work from right inside the cover. BTW: I am drawing in a Moleskin pocket notebook. They come in a 3 pack and there small enough to take with me most places.

The RANDOM names came from the website, the Seventh Sanctum <<LINK.

My current #dailydrawings sketchbook and the list of #randomnames

Random Named chracter #9: Platypus Walker

Random Name character #10: Empress Gamma. The inspiration came from the Japanese movie monster Gamera.

Random Named #11: Fossil Princess. My inspiration was a Dinosaur Disney princess.

Random Named #12: Horror Marine. Trying for something scary.

A watercolor of a eagle, using a limited pallet and negative space.

Some fun magic user characters I drew in my bigger sketchbook when I left my small one at a regular teaching job. The goal was to practice a variety of characters types to better represent the world around us.

Random Name #13: Barron O’Possum.

Random Name #14: Father StarLark the Priestnaut.

A watercolor painting of a wizard, based on a character I created for a demonstration. The flash on the camera is washing out the color.

Random Name #15: Chief Itch. Yes, I know I misspelled the name on the actual drawing.

I was trying for a poison oak themed hero, with red and green like the leaves that make you itch.

Random Hero #16: Magician Idiot aka Magician School Drop-Out

Daily Drawings 2017 January 2

All right, back with more of my Daily Drawings from my sketchbook. As always you can see all my daily posts on my Instagram account HERE.

This month I started a new sketchbook and a new theme, which I will explain as we get to that part in the timeline.

This page is from my new larger sketchbook, which is in addition to my daily drawings BTW.

My theme of my new sketchbook is ‘Forgotten Heroes, from Random Ideas’ in which I made a list of Random Superhero Names through the website Seventh Sanctum and each day I randomly pick a name and draw that character. I will number each name as I go BTW, but the photo was taken when I started.

daily drawings jan 2017 pt 2

Here is another batch of drawings from this past week. A few less then usual as I had to focus on some personal stuff.

As always see all my posts on Instagram HERE.

We had a whole lot of rain here in Californian, and so I drew this lovely witch enjoying the weather…

Then time for a new sketchbook and a drawing of a female warrior…

And some fun characters made from marker scribbles…

I put up a new rack to display my drawings, including one I did at work.

The display is made up of a wooden dowel I bought at the hardware store, two non-damaging hooks to stick on the wall and some clips attached with fishing line.

Put up a quick and easy display for done #drawings on the wall. Cost about $10. #howtoo

Goals for the New Year! #dailydrawings January 1st to 8th, 2017

daily drawing jan 2017 - 01

daily drawing jan 2017 - 01

Well, it’s 2017 and it’s time for new art. For anyone new, theses are my Dailydrawings that I do everyday, usually in the morning.

As always I post the images on my Instagram account first, and you can check them out HERE. CLICK HERE

The New Year (i.e. 2017) is a time of reflection, and these drawings are part of that. Each drawing is a goal mine for 2017 and the future, of course. Can I follow them all, I hope so.

So here we go…

This drawing is a bunch of doodles I did at my friends New Years Day party. I was surrounded by many of my favorite folks and most of them are artist too, which was inspiring.

One of my goals for the new year is to Be Strong, Be Healthy. Watching what I eat, getting exercise, visiting the doctor more, doing yoga and meditation.

Then I posted some close up of of my New Years Day drawings…

My next goal for the New Year, to take One Step at this Time. This is the first drawing I did of Cartoon Brian, who sort of looks like me. Sort-of.

My next Daily Drawings are from my visit to the Oakland Drinking and Drawing meet-up. I love being creative among my peers.

My next goal for the new year is to get a chance to collaborate with folks with other skills and talents.

A #dailydrawing with another #newyears #goal … #collaboration

A photo posted by Brian Kolm (@briankolm) on

Another goal for the year and the future is to be brave, face fears, and take chances.

Today's #dailydrawing is another #newyear #goal, to be more #brave, more #fearless.

A photo posted by Brian Kolm (@briankolm) on

Next up is to get organized and get my space in order.

A #dailydrawing about a #newyear #goal, get #organized! #drawing #zebrapen #deleterpen #improve

A photo posted by Brian Kolm (@briankolm) on

and my last New Years Goal Daily Drawing is being able to ask for help.

For today's #dailydrawing, my last #newyear #goal is to ask for help more often. #drawing #art #positive

A photo posted by Brian Kolm (@briankolm) on

And of course the last goal needs no image to post, because it is to draw all the time!
