Recommendation: OvernightPrints.com

Note: on 11/29/06 I had two comments with complaints about the service and quality of OvernightPrints.com. I had a good experience, but that does not mean that their work has gone downhill in the last year and a half since I had mine done (or maybe I was just lucky). I am keeping my post intact, but recommending that you read the comments as well and make uses of it with other research on the web before making a choice. Thank.

I just received 1000 two sided, full color business cards from Overnightprints.com and am very happy with them. They came recommended by an artist friend. I uploaded my order on the afternoon of Monday, June 27. Checking my order the next morning, I discovered that the cards had been printed and sent to UPS Monday night at 6pm. They offered me a UPS tracking number through the site and the cards arrived 3 days later (Thursday).

PROS:

PRICE: One of the best prices around. Full color both side, quantity 1000 for $63 (including shipping and tax). Many color business cards, ordered over the web, can cost over $100, and that is sometimes for printing on one side only.

The difference between color on one side and two sides is $10. And even a solid color or texture on the back, for instance, would make a card stand out and give it is own identity. The back of mine has a warm colored texture with the word NOTES on it. This way info can be added on a person-by-person bases.

QUALITY: The quality is a heavy-duty card printed on a real printing press, not digital (which can result in thinner cards). You have an option on both sides of either UV glossy coated or matte coated. The matte coating is good for having a surface to write on and the gloss makes colors pop out. All images are with a bleed.

WEB INTERFACE: The web interface for uploading is excellent and the site contains all the templates and notes to setup your graphics.

CONS:

SHIPPING: Now an artist friend of mine had an experience where it took two weeks to get his cards. I can only assume that this is because, in the small print, cards that are to be shipped UPS Ground are ‘low man on the totem pole’ and are placed lower in the production cue. A busy time with folks who have orders that are being shipped overnight come first.

RESPONSIBILITY: One reason the price is good is that you are responsible for the quality of the card. So if you file is not put together right, it’s your fault.
