My friend Alex encouraged me to try to use Indian Ink and Brush to Ink a drawing for a comic book. Here is my first piece done almost entirely inked with the brush.
It is drawn with Utrecth red sable brushes and Speedball Indian Ink on velum bristol board from Strathmore. The Speedball ink can sometimes not be as black as I would like. (any recommendations?)I might ad a bit of grey washes on a few areas of the charcters to create some more contrast.
This piece is of one of my favorite superhero couples: the android Vision and the mutant Scarlet Witch. It seems very appropriate since the Scarlet Witch is the center of Marvel Comics big summer story line, “House of M”. (spoiler: she killed half of the Avengers including here estranged husband the Vision) Both Marvel and DC have a habit of ruining some of the best characters. But the characters live on in the hearts of those of us who like them.
