Well the end of a decently productive day and my first bloged day.
I always feel like I never have done enough, though I am happy with the work I did today so far. I am close to being done inking on 3 of 5 pages I want to add this week. The shading is much faster for me then the inking. The shading, which is washes of grey paint wash, is all about the bigger picture, where the lines are about the detail (well most of the time).
Here is the last picture I took of page 20a. I am wondering if Kate and Sir Tugert are two high for the perspective, in which I will draw them at the top of a flight of stairs. I am satisfied with the building so far; I still am going to add in windows. Also I need to fix the villains hand on the top right panel and figure out the image he in conjuring with magic. I am happy with Wendell’s expression too. It is hard to tell, but he is biting his lip and his eyes are stained with tears. The shading will help with some of it.
I originally printed a version to give to other professionals at Comic-Con in San Diego this summer, but since I have waited this long, I am changing some of the drawings on a few of the pages. The difference is that most of these will only be, at most minor changes. The panel bellow is one of the more detailed ones. In the photo below I have taken an actual printed copy and “marked it for surgery” in sepia.

I have promised myself all-you-can-eat sushi on Tursday if most of the new pages are done. Wish me luck.
I love sushi.
