Captain Scurvy

Captain Scurvy ©2008 Richard Becker.

My friend Richard Becker gave me this awesome picture for my birthday in April. I just got the chance to scan the art and place it on-line. Captain Scurvy appears in fully painted comic strips in Pirate Magazine.

Animators Survival Kit DVD

It’s been announced that Richard Williams has adapted his fantastic book, the Animators Survival Kit to a new series of how-to DVD’s. I took Richards animation workshop years ago and I can tell you this is going to be awesome. Even if your an artist who’s not doing Animation, you can learn a lot from what he has to say. Plus the man is really fun and funny to watch.

Check out the PROMO VIDEO.

Many of the sample clips feature some lovely animation on the website. I love the “Hello” Dialog clip (click on the upper left one called “Dialog”).

Sadly I won’t be able to afford the $2,407.84 it cost for the whole DVD set right now, but that price is for 16 DVD’s. I am sure it’s worth it if you got the money.

Pnda animation test

This is a tiny animation I created today at the Schulz Museum while I promoted my animation class for kids that happens in July.

The animation was created to test a cool xerox machine that can scan a stack of drawings and send them to a computer. I just brought the sequence of image into After Effects and re-timed them. Sort of proud to see what I could do in 45 minuets.

fan art: the Vision

[singlepic=492,320,240,,]

Just a fan picture of one of my favorite Marvel Supehero characters, the android Vision. This was rendered in ink with a dip brush and then colored on the computer. I tried to give the effect that his cape is translucent and the light is coming through.
