Ron Clements and Jon Musker are responsible for some of the best new Disney animated films: The Great Mouse Detective, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Hercules, and Treasure Planet. They directed some of Disney’s most successful movies, and Disney let them go! Bad Disney!
The Animation Pod Cast has part one of an interview with the two master artist.
This will be a brief detour from the Nik Ranieri series since today marks the first day that Ron and John no longer work at Disney. After 32 years for Ron and 28 years for John, there’s a big hole in the heart of the feature animation building. I’m posting for two groups: those who have never met Ron and John – enjoy; those who know Ron and John – I thought hearing their voices might make the halls seem a little less empty today.
I still remember seeing their first movie, the Little Mermaid, for the first time. I was swept away and left the theater singing the songs. They definitly inspired me artisticly, and brought animation to where we are now. It was a magic time that is now gone. Thank Ron and Jon for all the magic your brought to us.
