Well it’s Saturday morning, and I am ready for the big day. I have on my Ambition Studios Anthology T-Shirt that I made and ready for the, hopefully, record numbers of folks who will come to the con.
The life of an exhibitor sometimes means not being able to actually go around too the booths, and the only chance is the hour of “set up time” that happens in the morning before the con happens. So that is where I am planning to be. The official time for the SDCC to open is 10 pm, but the exhibitors where told to be there at 8, and since we only get 1 hour of setup it means that they will, again, secretly let folks in at 9 am instead.
Yesterday morning I got to meet the amazing artist William Stout. His combination of inks and washes make some of the most beautifull and fresh fantasy art at the con. He showed me some concept art he did for Muppet Wizard of Oz. All of it was beautifull.
I also got to meet the two men responsible of creating all the special merchindise for Disneylands 50th aniversery. I mostly figured out who there where since one gentalman was wearing a replica shirt from the Tiki Room. I looked like the work of SHAG, but it was just cool 60’s retro stuff. I would love one. Thursday I had met Margert Kelly who was the live action reference for Tinkerbell in Disneys Perter Pan, she is also on the Board of ASIFA Hollywood. A very nice lady.
There where lots of fantastic costumes as well, from beautifull women to superheros and monsters. One was a robot in a cloak from Star Wars and it was done as puppet to create to spindly lmbs it had in the movie. A photo is forthcoming.
On the down side I only sold a few items at the Ambition Studios table P6. But then again I am not paying for the table. I have met lots of new artist, all with incredible talent. It will all serve me well when I teach my class at the end of this month.
