Better, much better.
It always feels good to get some work done after feeling a bit bla. Artists don’t always have good days, and when the work is on a personal project, it makes it harder. Well I spent the day not doing anything, well I did do stuff, but in my opinion, not enough.
LESSON LEARNED: Just do something, and sometimes other things will follow. If you can just trick yourself into doing one panel, or inking the boarders, or anything.
I did do a rough draft of the ‘letters’ section in the back of the issue and prepared and sent off an image for the cover of the Anthology I will be in. But what I am most happy about is the work I did tonight. I forced myself to stop stewing and make myself a nice dinner. (Dr. Pregers vegi burger, a nice salad and desert).
One thing that was troubling me on these pages is it featured two of the more realistic characters in BTGC. Both Victor and Sir Tugert can be cartoon, but Kate is a bit more realistic, as well as a new character she encounters while searching for Victor’s kidnapped uncle Ducelot.
Kate is one character I want to always do justice to. She is about 27 years old, tall and naturally pretty. She knows what her beliefs are, and she knows what she wants. She also does not like to put up with people who are jerks (Sir Tugert). But as the story progresses we will find out more of what drives her, which brings up to the man in the trench coat on this page. He is a character who only appeared in the background of page 18-19. It became clear after attempts at issue #3’s story is that I needed a bit more lead in, so here he is. He appearance is brief, but he will play a larger role in the next storyline, and HE knows what happened to Kate’s parents.
Here is the page after I put in some work tonight, the panel on the bottom I am very pleased with. More tomorrow.
