the Mighty Thor says Support the Hero Initiative

At Supercon 2007, this weekend I had the pleasure of sharing the space with the Hero Initiative folks.
HERO’s goal is to help older artist, the ones responsible for shaping comics to what we know know with assistance and financial support.

Since its inception, The Hero Initiative (Formerly known as A.C.T.O.R., A Commitment To Our Roots) has had the good fortune to grant over $200,000 to the comic book veterans who have paved the way for those in the industry today.

The Hero Initiative is the first-ever federally chartered not-for-profit corporation dedicated strictly to helping comic book creators in need. Hero creates a financial safety net for yesterdays’ creators who may need emergency medical aid, financial support for essentials of life, and an avenue back into paying work. It’s a chance for all of us to give back something to the people who have given us so much enjoyment.

Dan Brereton (creator of the Nocturnals)was doing sketches for a donation to the organization, so I got the cool drawing below of the Mighty Thor (Marvel Comics).

So if you love comics (as a fan or as an artist) why not purchase one of there comics or donate a little something to help those who have paved the way for some amazing comic book adventures.
