BTGC #2-Tuesday-post 1

Well its 10:45 and I haven’t started drawing yet.

I had a dream last night that I was on a hotel balcony looking out at the beautiful mountains bathed in a wintry early morning sun, all rich blue and orange-gold. But my camera would not stick to the tripod, and it would not take pictures. Then I woke up. What do you think that means?

Today I am going to tackle two of the tougher pages. Perspective drawings might seem hard to some, but the nice thing is that have rules to apply to them. People on the other hand are harder, since you break rules all the time. I feel I am always struggling on my drawings of Kate in BTGC. I want to draw this lovely, natural woman, yet I always worry about keeping her consistent and feminine. And I have a harder time with the side vies compared to the 3/4 view. Which means I am going to have ‘one of those days’.

Here is what I am working on today(above). Notice I have a page of sketches to work out the expressions that I want to do. This page also solidifies another new character, one that will help Kate with her own mystery. It’s a scene that I want to show Kate’s character as well as further the story. And to do the characters justice.

You should always be rooting for your heroes, and want the best for them. They are my children, so to speak. And I have some exciting things ahead for all of them: Victor, Kate, Sir Tugert, Wendell, Victor’s uncle Ducelot and his lady friend Lucy. So here’s hoping.
