Well, what a fun/busy week it’s been at the Cartoon Art Museum.
Day #4 of Character Creation class was mostly drawing a final piece of art, including inking and color. It was a day of jokes, and I sometimes had to remind them to keep drawing. I was able to xerox their final line art so they could try out/experiment with the color.
Day #5 The class finished up their artwork and we put it up for show and tell…

The work was quite fantastic and the kids work really hard on it. click on the image below to enlarge the image in a new window.
Our special guest was Steve Leialoha, a talented artist and the current inker on the comic book series Fables (from Vertigo).

Steve sat down with us and did some drawings based on ideas the kids came up with before he arrived. Here he is showing one student how to draw a foxes eyes.

Here is Steve’s drawing of a female cyborg bear…

All in all it was a very exciting and enjoyable class. A big thank you needs to go out to all the kid’s: Jake, Marissa, Charlotte, Isaiah, Cheryl, and Samantha as well as the museum staff: Summerlea, Andrew and Rod.
AND the good news is that I will be teaching it again in August. Dates will be available next week on my Class listing. Of course if anyone has a question about the classes at the CAM or would like to hire me to teach at their school, program or party, please email me.
NOTE: Samantha, I tried to email you a link to this post and it bounced back.
