BTGC #2-Friday-Another Day

Well yesterday was day off for sure… Well I had to work on another project, and there is only so much energy that flows from an artists hands. But today is another day, and I will be working on my comic off site…more on that later.

THE GOAL: finish up as much art as I can, then begin to scan.

Gene Deitch’s definition of animation

Via Cartoonbrew.com…

In regards to Motion Capture and weather it counts as Animation. Motion Capture being closer to puppetry vs. other forms of animation such as Cel, Cut Out, CGI, Clay, etc. Mr. Deitch writes:

POLAR EXPRESS, it seems to me, opens up the possibility of a whole new category, which may possibly develop; Motion Capture, as a way of creating a special kind of virtual reality. Whether it’s a good thing, or a blind alley, is another subject for discussion. In the meantime, here follows my personal attempt to define what animation basically is, technically. So far, no one has challenged it, and it has been part of my book on animation for many years.

“CINEMATIC ANIMATION: The recording of individually created phases of imagined action in such a way as to achieve the illusion of motion when shown at a constant, predetermined rate, exceeding that of human persistence of vision.”

funchase.com: the theme parks on the Jersy shore.

Came across this interesting site, funchase.com, about the boardwalks/theme parks of the New Jeresy Shore called Wildwood. The site has lots of historical photos galore. Lots of fun, check it out.

The sights and the sounds… that unique blend of pizza, salt air, cotton candy and musty wood floats on the ocean breeze…the Wildwood Boardwalk experience attacks all of your senses at once. There is nothing quite like summertime at the Jersey Shore.

The Wildwood’s Beach and Boardwalk helped to create lifelong memories and form lifelong friendships and continues to do so today.

This site takes a look back at Wildwood’s past and will evolve over time.

I like the photos of the Keystone Kops ride. Looks like it would have been a fun dark ride.

Or how about this Jungle Cruse-ish nock off called: Jungle Land.
