For the drawings I did this week in my ‘People’ themed sketchbook, I tried to maybe exaggerate and get a a tiny bit looser. I really like where some of these drawings are going, but I want to start having the drawings be a bit more exaggerated too.
This drawing was based on a statue that I took a picture of at a chain home store that sells “imports.” I changed it up and wa-la, it’s time for the Battle Drummer!

This next drawing was based on a photo I took at the Big Wow comic-con in San Jose CA (BTW it’s happening in a few weeks!) for the big Cos-Play meet-up. Of course I changed the outfit, but I like how the likeness came out. It was unintentional to have it look so Christmasy, but using Red and Green can do that.

This crazy character was based on a photo of a statue I took at the DeYoung museum in San Francisco. Their collection of Pacific Island art is amazing and these statues are natural cartoon characters.

And the last drawing is from today and based on a wedding photo taken at the Alternative Press Expo (APE), some artists I knew were getting married with a Vegas-Rock N Roll theme. So I started with the reference-seed of the groom with his guitar and then changed it up a bunch. Now it’s Joe the Space Bard.
