New BTGC layouts for Chapter 1 with Text

This is a screen-grab of the edited text on top of the rough layouts. On these pages the town bully and his to thug friends harrass Victor and his dad. This is also the page with the “saving the cat” event.

I scanned the pages into InDesign and then added in text from the script. The small yellow boxes on the above image are “stickey notes” that I added to a PDF version in Adobe Acrobat.

I am really happy with how it reads. I have struggled to get the story to work the way I want and this feels pretty close. Of course there will be changes, lots of them, but there is certain feeling you get when it all seems to work. I am now working on the second chapter as well to make sure that all the important elements are set-up. I also have a few visual “gags’ that will be hidden through out the book for those who are….lucky.

Back to work.

Boxkutters LIVE!!

Geno, Jason, and Mike

When I was in So-Cal last week I got to see my brother-in-law’s band the Boxkutters…LIVE. Here is a snap or two. To see more or hear some tunes, visit the official website Boxkutters.com.

The band is joined on Jam night at Liam’s Irish Pub with Tim on bass (left back) and Tara on vocals (front center)

Liam’s is a great place to have some beer.

BTGC update: Chapter 1 re-write done!!

After Comic-Con 2006 I took a week off to visit family down south. Over that time I got to relax and focus on my graphic novel. I re-outlined the story from scratch, did a detailed outline of chapters 1-3, and then drew up the rough layouts for chapter 1 when I got home.

I really feel good about this, confident that the story is working. It even has a cliff-hanger at the end. Not sure if I should post the rough version with the dialog till I have been working on it some more. Anyones thought on it are appreciated?

Other wise it looks like I am going to be starting production of the final painted art in the next week or two, I am going to sit down and do some design work first to get everything figured out. Any encouragment is all ways appreciated (and some butt kicking when I fall behind).

Eric Saxby has posted a short comic story fly away on his site, Living in the past. Check it out.

Eric was working on his graphic novel, Autumn, at our table at the San Diego Comic-Con and it looks really great. His style is unique and clean.

"create your own disney magic"

The Tokyo Disneyland fan site Joe’s Tokyo Resort page has a random generator, Create Your Own Disney Magic, that creates name for Disneyland Parades and Shows. Great fun when you need to take a quick break from what your doing.

So, when your in Japan why not go to the park and take in the exciting: Tokyo DisneySea Princess Splash or how about the Tokyo Disneyland Happy Show and who can forget Christmas Disco Celebration.

Note: Thise are not real shows, but they could be I guess, the folks in Japan sure have a way with naming stuff.
