Cartoonist in Residence – Richard Becker: Saturday, July 21st, 2pm to
4pmThe Cartoon Art Museum hosts painter Richard Becker as part of its
ongoing Cartoonist-in-Residence program. Visit the museum between 2pm
and 4pm to meet Richard and talk with him about his artwork. This event
is free and open to the public.Richard Becker is an American painter, best known for his pirates art.
In 1992 Becker created “Black Swan Press” and started publishing his
first “Blood Thirsty Pirate Tales”, a comic book series. Becker wrote
and illustrated “Draw The Marvel Comics Super Heroes” for Klutz Press a
year later. He is currently producing another comic book series, “Pirate
Tales” and has a new book “The Pirate Art Book-Seventeen Years of
Drawing Sea Rovers”. Anyone with an interest in black and white pirate
illustrations should find a wealth of booty in this fine collection.The Cartoon Art Museum hosts a different professional cartoonist in its
galleries as part of its Cartoonist-in-Residence program each month.
Museum patrons see cartoonists at work on their latest projects and
learn everything they ever wanted to know about cartoonists–but were
afraid to ask. Past featured Cartoonists-in-Residence include Paul
Madonna (All Over Coffee), Keith Knight (K Chronicles, (th)ink), Erik
Kriek (Gutsman Comics), Michael Jantze (The Norm) and Grady Klein (The
Lost Colony) among many others
