Well, I received notes back from the person who was reviewing my manuscript, that all of you will see as the graphic novel version of Beyond the Great Chimney in 2007. As they put it, I have lots of story elements to “tease.” Some of the areas to work on I didn’t even see coming. Some of the areas are ones I really wanted to tell, but felt that I would change what I had too much. Some of it was right one. So in other words…a normal critique.
Something interesting I have discovered is that a lot of the stuff I need to add actually replaces the scenes someplace else that were not working. An idea that needed to be explained more can sometimes be done better in a different way. It was if the reviewer had given me permission to add some of the stuff I feared would not work. I have promised, as excited as I am, not to give away too much till I know that it’s ‘real’. Let me just say that the reader is going to get a lot more personal with the characters: their strengths and weaknesses, hopes, dreams, and fears.
I have been working the last week at scripting new scenes/chapters that will take place before the stories that I have as spate issues (buy one today!). I mostly work in rough drawings, next I will rough out actual pages and add in word balloons. And the I will take it from my site for a few days, come back and see what I got.
