Recent Artwork: color keys (pictures)
September 4th, 2004 at 6:05am
I am working on some test conceptual color keys, as would be used in an animated feature. Each one uses a limited pallet of colors, which are combined different ways to get unique effects. Enjoy.
These where done last Friday, Aug 27 2004
I used whatever colors I had on my pallet to paint this simply designed scene. The exercise was the experiment with the watercolor to create different moods in each one.

I took these incredible photos by Ansel Adams:
and attempted to create color keys of it by using only 3 watercolor colors: a red, blue, and yellow

Hey, Brian…I think the washes look great! It’s amazing what you can do with such a limited amount of color. I found the Ansel Adams renderings very interesting. I know you’re a fan of his, so it must have been fun to experiment with those.
Anyway, take care and keep the paintings coming!
