Bizzarro Superman

[singlepic=420,320,240,,]

In the Superman superhero mythos, Bizzarro is a duplicate of Superman created by Lex Luthor. Depending on what version you are reading, the duplicate is just like the Man of Steel at first. But soon things are not well and the clone’s make up is change to give his face a pale or faceted look and his mind goes along with it.

In some ways I don’t see Bizzarro as a villain as much as a super annoyance.

Batman comic book cover

This is a loose panting I did of batman:

[singlepic=312,320,240,,]

and here it is with Color done in Photoshop:

[singlepic=314,320,240,,]

I started with using some blue watercolor paint to sketch out the forms and then went over with black goash paint which looks pretty cool. I then used photoshop to drop out the blue and up the contrast giving it more of an inked comic book drawing.

Which version do you guys like better?

Watercolor paintings

Here are some of this weeks watercolor exercises…

Three paintings together. I started drawing with red watercolor paint and then layered the details. All three took about an hour.

Dancing Superheros

Makes me smile and laugh.

This was created with the online site PICTAPS.
Ultraman(s) is/are the only superhero(s) who can really get away with dancing I think.

Watch Steve Rude paint.

Steve Rude, the artist behind the comic book Nexus and the Moth, has posted some videos of his painting demos where he does his great Superhero watercolor paintings. The audio is not very good, but it should be fun for us artist and fans of artist folks.

Check it out here.

Steve also does some amazing comic book work, featuring artwork reminiscent of Alex Toth. Check out his new publishing company, Rude Dude Productions.
