Reporting from Sunny (HOT) Santa Rosa CA

It’s HOT here in Santa Rosa. Every day it’s been over 90 degrees. Luckily the kind folks at the Schulz Museum allow me to hang around after my class in their air conditioned environment.

The class is going well and I have a great group of 9 boys who have been great to work with. I am looking forward to sharing some of the animation we have done this week with you next week.

Off to Santa Rosa this week.

This week I am in Santa Rosa CA to teach the animation class at the Schulz Museum. The class is brand new and hopefully it will result in some cool animations. If all goes according to plan I will have some video clips to show on-line the week after. I will be blogging later this week as well.

JULY 7–11 ● 9am–12:30pm | Stop and Go!
Learn the basics of stop-motion animation and make your own animated film by the end of the week. Students will experiment with stop-motion and hand-drawn animation, flip books and zoetropes, as well as other methods. Taught by professional artist Brian Kolm.
COST: $152 for members; $190 for non-members

Here is a video clip from a class that has all ready happened, the Cartoon Safari that started with some drumming. Due to working with Children the clip can not be embedded. So click on the text below.

Students launch their “Cartoon Safari” week with a drumming session with South African musician Baba Shibambo. They spent the rest of the week creating cartoon creatures and stories with professional cartoonist Brian Narelle as part of our 2008 summer class session.
