Albert Smith is a family friend and a very talented painter here in the San Francisco Bay Area. I just found out that he has a new website albertsmithpaintings.com that has samples of his work as well as a video documentary.

Hey everyone! The last meeting of the Cartoonist Conspiracy of San Francisco was fantastic with over 11 people in attendance and the art that came out of the night was really great. But it would be even cooler to get even more folks this week. So grab your favorite drawing tools and head on down to the Church St. Café at 6:30 pm this Thursday and draw with us. You’ll be glad you did, or possibly amused you did.
We meet on the second and last Thursday of each month at the Church St. Café from 6:30 pm to sometimes between 9 and 10 pm.
When: Thursday March 13th, 2008
Where: Church St. Cafe, 260 Church St San Francisco, CA 94114

Here is where we are: (the green cabin is the café and the blue markers are MUNI bus stations)

Well, sort of.
I did some hand watercolor coloring for Alexis Fajardo’s new graphic novel Kid Beowulf and the Blood Bound Oath which have been posted on the official website.
Alexis’ new art work is looking fantastic and for the prologue he illustrated in a more realistic style and ask me to ad some watercolor washes to render the art. The final pages will be printed in black and white, but we decided I would work with some limited color and then converted them. This provides art that will look good in both color and black and white and can be used for many different purposes.
This is one of my favorite panels…

In the Superman superhero mythos, Bizzarro is a duplicate of Superman created by Lex Luthor. Depending on what version you are reading, the duplicate is just like the Man of Steel at first. But soon things are not well and the clone’s make up is change to give his face a pale or faceted look and his mind goes along with it.
In some ways I don’t see Bizzarro as a villain as much as a super annoyance.
