‘Graphic Novel’ exhibit Saturday Night December 8,2007

Three members of the Cartoonist Conspiracy San Francisco are having their own gallery show, Graphic Novel, which will feature original comic book art. The artist have also been kind enough to invite the members of the CCSF (which I am a member) to set up and sell our own books too. AND you can pick up a copy of the NEW Cartoonist Conspiracy San Francisco Anthology which I did the layouts for.

Heres the low down…

Where: Frog Hall – 2114 Hayes St (at Cole) San Francisco CA
Date: Saturday December 8th, 2007
Time: 6:30 pm to 11 pm

The show features original comic book art by the talented Mike Hales, Kraig Rasmussen, and Daniel Salcido.

There will also be a mini comic book expo, and comic books created live before our very eyes. The group is inviting all cartoonists in the city for this so the live comic art should be really amazing.

No admission, all are welcome. Wine/ Beer, munchies, and music, so please come and enjoy, and please tell your friends.

AND here is a sneak peek at the cover for the Anthology which will cost $5.00 each and features work of many, many artist (including me). So come on down and check out the exhibit and say ‘Hi’, I will be happy to sign the Anthology.

Watercolor Drawings

These were done last night with some Watercolor ‘cakes’. I really had a good time doing these.

[singlepic=345,320,240,,]

a knight, first painted in gold and blue with lines added on top.

[singlepic=346,320,240,,]

These drawings were not done on very good paper so their are some wrinkles. On this dragon I painted the blue first and then built up the drawing from there.

[singlepic=347,320,240,,]

I just thought that a drunk centaur would be funny. The drawing came out pretty decent considering I did it all in paint. I worked out the proportions in blue paint and then painted the lines on top.

Faces that have been “inked” with out ink, but with black paint. For those who have been reading the blog you know that I have been doing a lot with technique.

826 Valencia Field Trip artwork: Mystery of the Stolen Treasure.

Yesterday I was the artist for another field trip at 826 Valencia. I really love the challenge of drawing quickly for the kids story with no idea how the final drawing will look. These were drawn in front of a group of 2nd graders as they helped write the story with the leader and typist. This story featured a school of pirates with the teacher who was a hamster.

Enjoy.

Kids drop-in cartooning class at the CAM, Saturday December 8th 2007

I will be teaching the Drop-In class at the Cartoon Art Museum this Saturday December 8th, 2007 from 1 to 3 pm. The cost is $5 per student and includes admission to the museum as well. There are limited spots so it is recommended that you call ahead to 415-CAR-TOON.

The classes are accessible by way of BART so it’s easy to get there with out the headache and cost of driving.

The museum has three excellent exhibits right now: Lark Pien, Mary Blair and Edward Gorey.
