Immortalized in paint.
I had the pleasure of attending a birthday party for my friend, artist Richard Becker who is best known as a Pirate Artist. His latest work is an entirely painted comic and he added me in to a bar room scene enjoying the company of a lovely wench. I am very pleased and flattered.
Can you find me in the painting (and matching sketch)? click for bigger image
The comic is looking amazing and Richard is really out doing himself with the mood in the work for this story. I will post more when the book is published.

James (Dinotopia) Gurney’s blog
Amazing painter and illustrator James Gurney, artist/author of Dinotopia, has been posting to a blog about his recent book tour as well as lots of excllent notes on art and classic painting techniques. Really a treat for art traditionalist as well as the digital devotees.
His recent posts on COLOR and INSIGHT/DELIGHT were both fun to read and very educational.
Here is one of his images that was on the cover of Prehistoric Times magazine. Check out there website too since I am borrowing the image with out permission.

Coraline Teaser video
The Draw! blog has a short clip of the upcoming stop motion animated film from the book by Neil Gaiman Coraline and is directed by Henry (Nightmear Before Christmas) Selick. The voices included Dekota Fanning, John Hodgman, and Teri Hatcher and will have music/songs from They Might Be Giants. Wow! The stop motion film is also being shot to be shown in 3D IMAX.

CAM Sketch-A-Thon (San Deigo Comic Con 2007) pieces
These are images that I created for the Cartoon Art Museum Sketch-A-Thon last July at the San Diego Comic-Con 2007. The sketches are for sale from the museum, mostly at conventions like Wondercon 2008 (this February). I had these images in the gallery before, but these are scans vs. photos. If anyone wants to get one you should contact Andrew Farago on weekdays at the museum 415-CAR-TOON. Otherwise I suspect that they will be for sale at Wondercon 2008.
