BTGC sketches in my Moleskin sketchbook

MOLESKINE IS THE LEGENDARY NOTEBOOK, USED BY
EUROPEAN ARTISTS AND THINKERS FOR
THE PAST TWO CENTURIES. — from the website

©2007 Brian Kolm

For Christmas I received a beautiful Moleskine brand sketchbook (thanks Peggy and Gene). Boy is it nice.

I usually buy cheaper sketchbooks because I go through them pretty fast, but this one has convinced me that the quality of the paper effects how I create. I am taking more time and filling the page up with art vs. doing one lame sketch and turning to a clean sheet.

The sketchbook is really easy to open up almost flat(great for scanning) and has a pocket to store ticket stubs, reference scraps and other flat things. It is made in Italy.

BTGC ART: Dark Mentor designs

©2007 Brian Kolm

Now that my graphic novel production is in full swing, I thought I would start to give you some sneak peaks of what I am working on. This is one of the baddies from my novel.

Where is Victor, Kate, Sir Tuggert and Wendell you may ask, the heroes of the story? I am focusing on where the story presently is, and they do not show up till a bit later.

Third Thursday at the California Academy of Sciences.

A big hello to everyone who came by for a free drawing at the Third Thursday event at the Academy of Sciences in San Francisco.

I had a few spare drawings I did while waiting for people to come by.

I drew the hippo and then Nathan Parker drew the guy,
I later added the heading and the hearts.

I did get a chance to look around at the excellent displays of sea life.
Here is me looking (in my opinion) cool.

Here is the gang at the Cartoon Art Museum table, who co-sponsored the event.

Artist Wolf Kahn

A visitor to AtomicBearPress.com sent me a link to artist Wolf Kahn who does evocative pastels and paintings of landscapes in bright colors. Nice and gentle work.

BTGC rough visual script art

My goal is so not only produce more art this year, but post more progress images from my Graphic Novel. The above is from the visual script of BTGC.

What role do you think the character plays?
