The Cartoonist Conspiracy group of San Francisco has just posted a new 8 page e-book (pdf) on-line in the gallery. Please give it a read and follow the links on the official blog to let the talented artist know what you think.
I provided two full pages of art and penciled part of the cover. I also provided the digital production for the e-book including cover coloring and layout.
View my work for page 02 or 07.

I have a new avatar up on the upper right corner of this blog. And if you wait about 10 seconds something might happen….
UPDATE: for some reason I don’t have my profile icon showing on this page. But this is what it should look like.

UPDATE AGAIN: Thanks to my super sister, my avatar is at the top of this blog. Yay!

This is another drawing I did when I was having a work day with my good friend Linda. It is just a bad Conan rip-off, but when I brought the drawing into Photoshop I transformed him into an nature based magic user. I like how it came out, but the compression makes the color look dull.

Comments are always appreciated.

Artists Jonathan and Lola Myers have a new site on-line, myersillustrations.com. Jonathan is the creator of the Graphic Novel Swamp Fox and is now working on a children’s book based on the same characters. Jonathan does the drawings and his wife Lola does pastel backgrounds giving it a very cel animation look (see below). They have lots of examples of their artwork on the site, so check it out.

So far the only San Francisco 24 hour comic I have seen is from fellow Cartoonist Conspirator Jeff Plotkin. The challenge is to create a 24 page comic is 24 hours. From his report the San Francisco turnout was small (5 artist) and so far none have posted anything on the web but him.
Jeff’s comic is really good and features him talking about about preparing to do his 24 comic. You can read it on his DeviantArt spot–LINK. Note: you might have the scroll the page down to find the link to the following page of the one your on.
I hope to see more work soon.

I spent all of Saturday drawing and creating with my good friend Linda. One of the drawings I wanted to do was a tribute to the Blue Beetle (Ted Kord version). I am very pleased with most of it except the gun arm, it just looks off to me. I think the color looks pretty good.

drawing is ©2006 Brian Kolm and the character is ©2006 DC Comics
NOTE: I am posting slightly larger image on my DeviantArt page for the time being. Let me know what you guys think.

First off…Silicon had it’s first comic book jam. It lasted 11 hrs (from 1 pm to midnight) on Saturday October 7, 2006) The final work was a collaboration of multiple artist including us guests. Each page consisted of one or more panels. Here are the pages being laid out on Saturday night near the end of the event (midnight was the cutoff, but a few pages were added the next morning)

Here are the two panels I drew. I wish they looked better, but what can you do when there is a deadline.![]()

Below are two photos taken of Panel on comic book publishing. From left to right: Robert Meyer Burnett (writer and producer|ludovicotechnique.com), Phil Yeh (graphic novelist|ideaship.com), Brian Kolm (me), and Alexis Fajardo (graphic novelist|kidbeowulf.com)![]()

note: I use Graphic novelist as someone who both draws and writes a comic book or novel.
