Stuart Ng Books – online

When ever I go to Comic-Con or Wondercon I love to check out what Stuart Ng is selling. With a large collection of art books, imported books, limited editions and rare finds it is always an inspiring collection of tasty art.

I met him this weekend at the Supercon in Oakland. I have always admired his collection of material, but to chat with him in person was very awesome. He even bought one of my sketchbooks, the highlight of the day for me.

But when you can’t see his stuff in person, you can always be inspired and Artistically Jealous by visiting his website: http://www.stuartngbooks.com/ To see some amazing work, visit the French comic section.

This image was taken without permission by way of Screen Grab. Please visit his site to see more amazing samples of comics from france and around the world.

Oakland Supercon 2006 – drawings

This Sunday I was at the Super-con in Oakland. It was a slow con. It was good if you were a fan who wanted to get some good one on one time with your favorite artist, but if you were an exhibitor not so good. The crowds were small and mostly wanted only serious collecting things (back issues of Spiderman and Superman, signatures that would increase the value, original art of the famous folks,etc.).

I did get to meet Stuart Ng, who can be found at some con’s selling rare, unique art books and portfolios. I also got to sit and hang with Richard Becker who draws awesome stuff like pirates. I also met Mark Arnold who is a huge Harvey Comics collector and a real nice guy. But all in all it was still slow.

So as I sat at the CAM table and tried to sell my stuff, I had lots of time to draw:

I just ready Saga of the Swamp Thing. Here is Abby and Alec (the Swamp Thing) Such a good story and surprisingly romantic.

Just a fun warrior guy.

A wizard.

The fire lady. Colored in photoshop.

Filmation He-Man Rotoscope actors.

I am a big fan of the original He-Man cartoon by Filmation. When I saw the DVD recently the talked about the fascinating history of the show. They also had a few photos of the actions who where used for rotoscoping the stock footage. Here is a screen grab I took to show you. Notice that certain muscles are outlined in makeup including including a grid on the face to use the footage to make other characters.

PEPPER VS. CAT! a 826 Valencia Storybook

Here is the latest work I did with the kids of Ygnacio Valley School at the 826 Valencia writing center. As always I had to illustrate the book in real time as the kids wrote it as a group. And this time I tried to sneak in my own ending with the rest of the books, to get approval from our publisher Mr. Blue, but he did not like it and TORE IT UP. I was heart broken. But that won’t stop me from trying again. Mr. Blue is MEAN.
