Seventh Sanctum Random Generators – again!!

I know, I know I have posted a link to Seventh Sanctum on my site more then once. But its so much fun.

The site features a whole lot of random generators. A great way to come up with some new ideas or a way to challenge your talents. For instance, the superhero name generator came up with:

Blue Serpent
Fist Ray
Sapphire Diviner
Serpent Cinder
Viral Blast

It’s a fun exercises to draw a picture or write a story of what these folks are like.

Or how about one of these concepts for a novel from the writing tools>envisioner:

The story of Chicken Little set in a prison. The story of Hansel and Gretel envisioned as a city-smashing monster tale.

A fusion of the story of the Jersey Devil and the story of
‘The Boy Who Cried Wolf’ envisioned as a autobiographical tale.

The legend of the Golem envisioned as a coming-of-age tale.

The story of Noah set inside a virtual reality program.

The tale of Joan of Arc being about a group of g-men.

Plenty of interesting ideas to challenge your words or pictures. Give it a try. Lots of good idea places to start a new project.

Blender3D photo mapping

Using the free 3D program Blender3D, you can map a photo to 3D objects to create a scene in a movie. It is a very cool technique that they use in movies like Lord of the Rings. I would like to try it with a traditional animation background. Very cool.

Check out the example movie here: LINK

Welcome Absolute Write-ers

My sister, Peggy was kind enough to give me a shout out on the forums at AbsoluteWrite.com. I have enjoyed visiting the site and reading posts there.

Being an artist and being a writer have a lot in common. I have found that writers block tools, like The Observation Deck, can be a big help for those of us who make pictures as well as words.

I hope you enjoy my site and my work.

TMBG Venue Songs – Animation by Kim Deitch

A crazed Millionaire has challenged They Might Be Giants (the two Jon’s) to write a song for each performance venue they have played. That’s how their new album “Venue Songs” came to be. Their new websites (link) is filled with flash streaming videos that tell the tale of their musical journey.

The Deranged Millionaire (John Hodgman) tells
us of his challenge to the two Jon’s.

Here is some official press:

DVD includes eleven original video clips along with an original narration by former literary agent John Hodgman in the role of the Deranged Millionaire. Bonus video material includes “Damn Good Times,” “Bastard Wants to Hit Me,” “Experimental Film” (with Homestarrunner), and “I’m All You Can Think About” The Venue Songs CD includes over an hour of music-all for the first time on CD. All the new studio recordings of the Venue Songs are included in full CD fidelity. The disc also features rarities “Renew My Subscription,” “Love Is Eternity,” “Taste the Fame” and “The Bloodmobile” and compiles all the original Venue Song recordings from the 2004 tour.

Each stop of the trip has a music video for it, watchable on the site. There are two videos on-line, with more coming. My favorite video so far is “Dallas” with animation by cartoonist Kim Dietch.
