Wondercon 2005: Artist Karen Luk
This is the first of many blog posts of the many exciting artist and art I encountered at the Wondercon on Feb 18-20 2005. First up is artist Karen Luk.
Karen is a talented painter and illustrator as can be seen in her mini book:
The book features a simple, non-verbal story told in watercolor paintings. But the highlight is how the tiny book is assembled by….well you will just have to see it in person to see how clever it is.
Karen was also cool enough to do a drawing for me in my sketch book. Very awesome Karen!

BTGC #2 & #3 update
Beyond the Great Chimney #2: the trip beyond 2 of 3 is AT THE PRINTERS!! More information as it happens.
Beyond the Great Chimney #3: the trip beyond 3 of 3 is officially in production. Some work was done in the summer of 2004, but now I need to re-evaluate the story points, so that BTGC first story arc will end in a satisfying way.

AOL sucks! (me venting)
Today I called AOL to cancel my old (10+years) account (that I don’t even use) and had the worst experience that I can remember talking to someone on the phone. Our conversation lasted 15-20 minuets, and where it would have taken 5 with a GOOD employee.
here is a sample (simplified for your safety):
me: I would like to cancel my account
AOL guy: Why is that.
me: It does not suit my needs
AOL guy: Why is that.
…….10 min later
me: (begging and pleading) Please I just want to cancel, NO NO don’t give me a free month to try it out more.
AOL guy: Well you have till March #, when your billing period ends, why not….
me: NO, I want to cancel, I am not interested, let me talk to your supervisor.
AOL guy: Why do you need to talk to my supervisor.
…. this kept going on this way until I hung up in disgust.
Never have I had someone who would anger a customer while trying to get them to continue the service. I guess he felt it would be better to get the sale even if I am cursing his name. OR maybe he was just sadistic.
I did call back and got a very nice fellow who did it without question. When in doubt, hang up and talk to someone else.

Changes-A-Foot
Just to give some heads up that there will be some major changes hitting the atomicbearpress.com site this week, so some links will no longer work. If you find that the site seems to have vanished, make sure you try http://www.atomicbearpress.com.
The site is to get some major cleaning up with new information, new images, and new surprises. So, Please stop back later this week to check some of them out. Most updates will be mentioned here.

Wondercon 2005: Day 1> Friday
Well the big day has come. After spending an anxious night, I packed up my stuff to sell and headed to San Francisco, CA. I might not have a bunch of photos up till next week. Stay tooned.
